GENERAL PROGRAM INFORMATION
Season
Metrowest Teams (Club Division): late November thru 1st weekend of May
Metrowest Travel Teams (Open Division): late November thru mid June (or early July)
The practice locations will be in Wrentham, Ma. at the King Philip Regional High School (Rte 140).
Program Structure
Metrowest will be offering a number of teams in several categories and age
divisions this season. Teams are organized by age divisions as follows:
18 and under division
17 and under division
16 and under division
15 and under division
14 and under division (includes 13's)
12 and under division (includes 11's - 9's)
Please see the Tryout page for age definitions (by year of birth). Age divisions are determined as of Sept 1, birthyear.
All players are responsible for their own transportation to and from all
practices and tournaments within the New England Region. All teams travel to tournaments.
The CLUB teams compete against other New England
Juniors clubs in the Club Division. Travel to the other clubs'
sites is required 5 times during the length of the program. Some sites might
include: Brockton, N. Quincy, Newton, Chelmsford,
Lowell, Barnstable, Greenfield or Worcester. Tournaments for Local teams are scheduled as
geographically close to home as possible. Most sites are within an hours
drive. Ocassionally teams may have to drive to RI, NH or CT.
The upper level Club teams must travel to the "A Division"
tournament sites, regardless of location (possibly Western
MA, NH, RI, or CT).
Club teams will practice 2 hours, 1 time per week. Please be prepared
on competition days and plan for approx. 4 - 6 hours. All dates for Club level
teams are SUNDAYS ONLY.
Travel Teams have additional practices scheduled during the season.
There should be a clear understanding that the
mainstay of the club program is in skills training during practice sessions.
.
Competition is secondary at the club level. Tournaments are for fun! It provides
an opportunity to meet new people and gain tournament like exposure.
Players may be moved within the club to various teams (if required), to adjust
for skill level, as determined by the club coaching and administrative staff.
Each club team will have a maximum of 10 players per team. Equal
participation and training time is guaranteed at all practice sessions, but not always
guaranteed at tournaments.
Equipment
All players will be responsible for furnishing their own
practice clothing, including knee pads. Each player will be furnished with a high quality
indoor volleyball which should be brought to each practice session and tournaments. 12 & unders will use the club's
"volleylite" volleyballs (but will not be given volleyballs - lower fee cost). Balls should be
clearly marked for the players own protection. The Club is not responsible for
the loss or theft of any items and will not replace. If a volleyball furnished by the Club is not holding air
properly, then please bring the ball to the Club Director ASAP for replacement.
Travel Teams (Open Div.)
The Travel Teams compete at the highest
level possible. Travel teams (Open Level Division) are extensively uniformed and compete in tournaments with hired officials.
These teams will compete both
inside and outside the New England Region. The travel teams require a high
commitment level. They will practice at
least 1 time per week (twice per week after mid-season). The tournament
schedules for these teams often include both Saturday and Sunday
responsibilities. Ocassionally, three day weekends are required on holiday weekend tournaments.
Post season travel options:
End of season trips such as East Coast Championships require traveling on
the Friday before the competition and returning late on Monday evening
Memorial Day weekend. The Jr. Nationals or a Florida trip is a week long
competition in the summer months (see fees page for more information).
Transportation
All transportation is the responsibility of the
player unless otherwise stated by the club. For example post season transportation would be provided
for the East Coast Championship option (if selected) using vans. Other trips that require airfare arrangements,
are made through the club to assure group rates. This allows the use of
credit cards for airfares. Airfare rates have not been included in the price structure of
the program (see fees page for more information).
Hotel Accommodations
Hotel accommodations will be made for the travel team players by the club. Parents traveling with the team
are responsible to make their own accommodations.
Club Policies
Registration materials need to be submitted for consideration/participation in the Club. Players failure to submit
signed Club Attendance Policy and or Club Code of Conduct does not alleviate player from the rules of the Club. Once a player
accepts a position within the Club they are contractually obligated to the Club Policies for payments and refunds.
